General
Who is Marketplace Factory for?
Marketplace Factory is designed for entrepreneurs, startups, and project founders who want to create a marketplace quickly, with a controlled budget. Our solution is ideal for launching an MVP, testing a concept, or accelerating the development of an existing project. Whether you are funded by unemployment benefits, personal savings, or venture capital, our Catalogue plan is designed for budgets ranging from €15,000 to €100,000.
What exactly is a marketplace?
A marketplace is an online platform that connects sellers (or service providers) with buyers. Unlike a traditional e-commerce website that sells products from a single company, a marketplace hosts multiple independent sellers on the same platform. Airbnb, Uber, Etsy, and Le Bon Coin are examples of marketplaces.
What types of marketplaces can you create?
Our technical foundation adapts to several different industries, each with specific features and dedicated templates:
- Real estate: sales, rentals, seasonal rentals, co-living
- Vehicle rental: cars, vans, motorhomes, motorcycles, bicycles
- E-commerce / Products: crafts, fashion, second-hand, local products, high-tech
- Food / Catering: restaurants, local producers, caterers, delicatessens
- Personal services: concierge, wellness, events, childcare
- Freelancers / Talent: developers, creatives, consultants, craftsmen
- Jobs / Recruitment: job listings, resume database, temporary work
- Training / E-learning: online courses, private tutoring, professional training
- Booking / Reservations: coworking, sports, leisure, restaurants
- Classified ads: general, donations, barter, specific niches
Each sector comes with different visual templates and tailored business features.
What is the difference between Marketplace Factory and a development agency?
An agency develops your marketplace from scratch, which takes 4 to 6 months and costs between €50,000 and €80,000. Marketplace Factory is built on a proven technical foundation tested across dozens of projects. Result: you are on the market in 6 to 8 weeks for €7,990. Over 3 years, the savings amount to €48,000 to €103,000 compared to a traditional agency.
Technical foundation
What features are included in the technical foundation?
The technical foundation is a complete software package that covers everything a marketplace needs. It is identical for all clients, whether on the Starter or Custom plan. Here is what's included:
- Authentication & Security: registration, social login (Google, Facebook, Apple), 2FA, JWT
- User management: customizable profiles, roles and permissions (admin, seller, buyer), identity verification
- Listing system: creation, editing, image upload, categorization, moderation
- Search & Navigation: typo-tolerant full-text search, multi-criteria filters, sorting, pagination
- Internal messaging: private real-time conversations, attachments, reporting
- Payment & Transactions: Stripe, configurable commissions, automatic invoices
- Reviews & Ratings: star ratings, comments, moderation, seller trust score
- Notifications: transactional emails, personalized alerts, preference center
- Admin back-office: KPI dashboard, user management, moderation, CSV/Excel exports
- Blog / CMS: WYSIWYG editor, categories, SEO optimized, scheduling
- Responsive design: optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop
At an agency, this foundation represents 107 to 161 days of development, i.e. €64,000 to €97,000. With Marketplace Factory, it is available for €7,990.
Why can't I remove features I don't need?
Marketplace Factory is a software package, like Shopify or Salesforce. Clients get access to the complete platform, not individual modules. The features are interconnected: payments trigger notifications, reviews are linked to transactions, the back-office controls everything. Removing a module would create a specific version to maintain separately, which would cost more than leaving it. And most importantly: the features you don't need today will already be there when your users ask for them, at no extra cost.
Are there specific features depending on the industry?
Yes. In addition to the core foundation, each sector benefits from integrated business features. For example: geolocated search with map and energy performance filters for real estate, availability calendar and deposit management for vehicle rental, multi-vendor cart and simplified stock management for e-commerce, or delivery slots and click & collect for food services. The full details of features by sector are available on our catalogue pages.
What technology do you use?
Our foundation is built on a modern, high-performance architecture: Next.js (React) frontend hosted on Vercel with a global CDN, robust backend, Amazon database, and continuous deployment (CI/CD). This stack guarantees optimal performance, professional-grade security, and unlimited scalability.
Our plans & pricing
What plans are available?
We offer two clear plans: Catalogue (€7,990 excl. VAT + €990/month): you choose a template from our catalogue among 50+ variants across 10 sectors. We customize it to your brand (logo, typography, color palette) and deliver a complete, functional marketplace in 6 to 8 weeks. Custom: same technical foundation, but with developments specific to your business: functional modules, API integrations, custom workflows, or integration of your own designs. Pricing depends on your project's complexity — contact us for a personalized quote. In both cases, the technical foundation is strictly identical. The difference is what we add on top. Simple rule: if the backend needs to be modified, it's Custom. Otherwise, it's Catalogue.
What does the €7,990 setup include?
The setup covers the entire implementation of your marketplace:
- Access to the complete technical foundation (authentication, payment, messaging, reviews, back-office, blog, search, notifications)
- Catalogue template customized to your brand, logo, and typography
- Configuration of categories and business parameters for your sector
- Production deployment on a dedicated, secure server (SSL included)
- Configuration of your domain name
- 2-hour back-office training via video call
- Complete user documentation
- 30 days of post-launch support
What does the €990 monthly license cover?
The license is not a simple software subscription. It's an all-in-one maintenance contract that covers:
- High-performance hosting: dedicated server + Vercel frontend with global CDN
- Daily backups: automatic data backup, 30-day retention
- Corrective maintenance: bug fixes, security patches, incident resolution
- Technical foundation updates: continuous improvements
- Monitoring & alerts: 99.5% uptime monitoring, automatic alerts
- SSL & security: SSL certificate, DDoS protection
- Technical support: email with response within 48 business hours maximum
Equivalent hosting costs €3,000 to €6,000/year from a provider, and maintenance €8,000 to €15,000/year at an agency. Everything is included in the €990/month.
How much does the Custom plan cost?
The Custom plan is built on the same technical foundation as the Catalogue plan, with additional development days tailored to your project. The monthly license adjusts proportionally based on the volume of development completed. The final cost depends on the nature and complexity of your needs: functional modules, API integrations, business workflows, mobile app, etc. Each project receives a personalized quote after analyzing your requirements. Contact our team for a detailed estimate.
Design & catalogue
How many templates are available?
Our catalogue offers several templates spread across 10 industry sectors. Each template has been designed by a UX/UI expert to deliver an optimal user experience in its sector.
Can I customize the design?
Yes. The Catalogue plan includes graphic customization: your logo, colors, and typography are applied to the chosen template. The result is a marketplace that reflects your brand, professional and consistent with your identity. If you want a design entirely from scratch, it's possible through the Custom plan by providing your own Figma or Sketch mockups.
Is the design mobile-friendly?
Yes. All our templates are responsive: they automatically adapt to mobile, tablet, and desktop screens. The frontend is built with Next.js (React), which ensures optimal performance on all devices.
Can I see a demo before committing?
Absolutely. You can browse our catalogue mockups directly on our website. For a complete demonstration tailored to your industry, book an appointment with our team. We'll present a functional template matching your project.
Delivery & process
How quickly is my marketplace ready?
For the Catalogue plan, the delivery time is approximately 6 to 8 weeks. This includes graphic customization, business configuration, production deployment, and testing. For the Custom plan, the timeline depends on the volume of specific development. For comparison, a traditional agency takes 4 to 6 months.
How does the project work?
The process is simple and structured: 1. Template selection: you choose a design from our catalogue or provide your own mockups. 2. Customization: we apply your visual identity (logo, colors, typography) and configure the business parameters for your sector. 3. Production deployment: deployment on a secure server, domain name configuration, comprehensive testing. 4. Training & launch: 2-hour back-office training via video call, documentation, then go-live. 5. Support: 30 days of post-launch support to help you get started.
Do I receive training?
Yes. The plan includes a 2-hour back-office training via video conference. You'll learn to manage your users, moderate content, check your KPIs, and configure your platform. Complete user documentation is also provided.
Payment & commitment
How does payment work?
The setup is paid in two installments for the Catalogue plan: 50% at order, 50% at delivery. For the Custom plan, the schedule is: 30% at order, 40% at midpoint, 30% at delivery. The license is billed quarterly (€2,970/quarter), with a 12-month commitment. Quarterly billing is the only payment method available for the license.
What is the commitment period?
The minimum commitment is 12 months. This is the time needed for your marketplace to take off and for the investment to pay off. After 12 months, you can cancel with 3 months' notice.
What happens if I want to stop?
After the 12-month commitment, you can cancel with 3 months' notice. You get all your data back with no conditions: user database, listings, transactions, content. Your data belongs to you and is exportable at any time. In case of early cancellation (before 12 months), the balance of remaining months is due.
How does license billing work?
The license operates on a 12-month commitment, billed exclusively on a quarterly basis at €2,970/quarter. This model gives you clear visibility on your costs while guaranteeing continuous support: hosting, maintenance, updates, and technical support included. After the 12-month commitment, the contract continues on a quarterly rolling basis, cancellable with 3 months' notice.
Source code & ownership
Is the source code included?
No. Marketplace Factory operates on a usage license model, like any SaaS software. The client uses the platform without owning the source code. It's the same model as Shopify, Salesforce, or any SaaS: zero maintenance to manage, zero servers to administer, zero updates to handle.
Can I buy back the source code?
Yes. A buyback option exists at €50,000 for the technical foundation, plus 50% of any custom development costs. The buyback ends the monthly license: you get the full source code and become autonomous. Please note: the buyback means you take on hosting, maintenance, security updates, and support yourself. This requires an in-house technical team. For the vast majority of clients, the license remains the most rational choice for at least the first 5 years.
Why do I pay €600/day for development but don't own the code?
The €600/day pays for the development work, not the intellectual property of the code. It's the same principle as an architect: you pay their fees to design a building, but the plans remain usable according to the contract terms. The advantage for you: you benefit from continuous maintenance, updates, and support without managing anything. If you want full ownership, the buyback option is available.
Do I own my data?
Yes, absolutely. You own all of your data: user database, listings, transactions, content (text and images). They are exportable at any time, with no conditions and no additional fees. You are never locked into the platform.
Hosting & security
Where is my marketplace hosted?
Your marketplace is hosted on a professional infrastructure: database on AWS RDS Serverless (Amazon Web Services), frontend on Vercel with a global CDN for optimal loading times. Everything is secured with an SSL certificate, DDoS protection, and daily backups with 30-day retention.
What is the uptime rate?
We guarantee 99.5% uptime. Our monitoring system continuously monitors the platform and triggers automatic alerts in case of an incident.
Is my data backed up?
Yes. Automatic backups are performed daily with 30-day retention. In case of a problem, we can restore your data quickly.
Is maintenance included?
Yes. The monthly license covers all maintenance: bug fixes, security patches, technical foundation updates.
What happens in case of a technical issue?
Our technical support is reachable by email with a response time of 48 business hours. In case of a critical incident (outage, security breach), our team intervenes as a priority thanks to continuous monitoring.
Upgrades & customization
Can I evolve my marketplace after launch?
Yes. You can add custom developments at any time. A marketplace that starts as Catalogue can evolve to Custom as your business grows. That's the advantage of the shared foundation: the base is solid, you add specific building blocks when the need arises.
Can I integrate third-party tools (CRM, ERP, API)?
Yes, through the Custom plan. A simple API integration takes 2 to 3 days, a complex integration (ERP, CRM) takes 5 to 10 days. Our team evaluates your needs and provides a precise quote before any commitment.
Do you offer a mobile app?
Yes, as part of the Custom plan. A native mobile app (iOS and Android) in React Native is estimated at 30 to 50 development days. The app uses the same data as your web marketplace.
Can I migrate my data from another system?
Yes. Data migration from Excel, CSV, or another system is an available option. The cost depends on the volume and complexity of data to import — contact us for an estimate.
Can my marketplace be multilingual?
Yes. Adding an additional language (full interface translation) is offered as a custom option. This option does not affect the monthly license.
